Our Mission
Back in Business is a local directory for businesses that kept going when things got difficult. We cover shops, services, and restaurants in Knoxville, Savannah, and Madison, with a focus on the ones still standing after hard seasons.
Recovery takes many forms. A Beauty & Grooming studio rebuilds its client base after a slow year. Home Services contractors retool and find new customers. Not every comeback looks dramatic. Some businesses just quietly adapt and stay open. Those are the ones we spotlight.

Most directories list any business that fills out a form. This one doesn't. We look for evidence that a business has faced something hard and is still operating. That standard shapes every listing.

How We Choose Listings
We check that each listed business holds a current, verified business license in its operating city. A working phone number must connect to a live person or active voicemail, and the business needs a trackable public presence: a website, a Google Business Profile, or documented customer reviews. We do not list permanently closed businesses, businesses with unresolved consumer complaints the owner never responded to, or businesses without enough public evidence they are currently operating. We review flagged listings and remove them if the business no longer appears active.
